With Two Return Tickets Dished Out To Customers… Africell Celebrates US 243rd Independence

One of the leading telecommunication companies, Africell has last Friday, 28th June, 2019 surprised 12 of its   deserving customers with two of them bagging return tickets to the United States of America (USA),at a special cocktail reception as the company joins the USA to celebrate the latter’s  243rd Independence Anniversary.

Addressing the gathering, the Corporate Affairs Manager of Africell, Joe Abass Bangura disclosed that apart from the fact that Africell is owned by an America citizen, the company’s relationship with the US Embassy in Freetown spans for some 15 years since the founding of the company.

The company, he continued, has since been a key partner in the Embassy’s economic and cultural activities in the country, adding that the United States Census Bureau figures for 2017 revealed 38,257 of foreign nationals born in the USA are Sierra Leoneans and the remittance from these Sierra Leoneans in the USA was estimated at US$12.1m, second only to remittance from Guineans.

Africell, he furthered, partnered with the US Embassy to launch the Africell American Corner, noting that it has become the most outstanding of America spaces in the country providing opportunities for all kinds of educational research both online and offline to Sierra Leoneans especially the youths.

“Our conference facilities provide free of charge facility for educational purposes,” said the Corporate Affairs Manager, adding that the facility has played host to some 63,048 visitors, 306 events and 12,149 events attendees.

The company, Mr. Bangura further informed is also a founding member of the Board of the America Business Council which main objective is promoting America businesses in Sierra Leone.

The ceremony was climaxed with the announcement of winners of twelve Star Prizes, including the two Visa winners to the USA.
