Windfall For Female War Victims

The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) on Tuesday 4th September, 2018 commenced the final payment of reparation of over Le1 billion to female war victims at a ceremony held at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown.

There were about 1000 female war victims as beneficiaries and each of them received a slip to collect Le1.2 million at the state-owned Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB).

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner of NaCSA, Abu Bockarie Kokofele expressed great delight in amicably solving the protracted dispute between the Commission and the female war victims on his assumption of office on 25th July, this year, adding that on his first day in office, he was locked up in his office when the war widows protested against the Commission.

NaCSA, Mr. Kokofele said, was mandated to pay reparation to five categories of war victims, including Amputees, Wounded in Action and Female War Victims, adding that the Commission has already completed the payment of reparation to four categories while the female war victim are yet to receive their full package.
