The Minister of Lands, Housing and the Environment, Dr. Dennis Sandy has on the 11th October, 2018 handed over the original site plan of Fourah Bay College (FBC) to the Deputy Registrar, Munda J.S Lebbie.

According to the Minister, the site plan is a document that shows the entire land portion of the college which is up to 463 acres. He assured that his Ministry is ready to chase land grabbers that have encroached on lands belonging to the university.

During the event, he handed over three photocopies of the land plan to the College Administration and kept the original copy for Ministry’s reference. The site plan, he said is also saved in an electronic format.

In response, the Deputy Registrar said with such proactive measure taken by the Lands Minister the college administration would be able to regain all its lost land as according to him, a vast portion of the college land has been encroached upon by certain individuals particularly within the Mount Aureol community. The college land, he insist, must be protected because it is for generations yet unborn.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Lands, Israel B.K Jigba confirmed that there are lots of encroachers on the college lands with the college only occupying just a fraction of its property. The FBC land saga, he furthered, has been a controversial one and that there has been a number of court cases which regards the said property.

The Asset Chairman at FBC, Patrick H.H Walker warned encroachers that it is high time they started packing their belongings and vacate the college land. He further disclosed that plans are underway to do a general survey on the entire college land area with the aid of legal representatives to evict all land grabbers.
