US$7Million MoU Signed

The Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa has together with the Minister of Works and Public Assets, Peter Bayuku Conteh and the Chief Engineer of Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Amara Kanneh on Tuesday 21st May, 2019 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Finance Ministry’s Conference Room with the Senegalese Construction Company – CSE – for the completion of the Tokeh – No. 2 River Road in the Western Area Rural District.

According to the Minister of Finance, they have already disbursed US$7,000,000.00 (Seven million United States Dollars) to CSE to complete the 8-kilometer road from Tokeh to No. 2 River. He disclosed that they negotiated with CSE for US$28,000,000.00 (Twenty-eight million United States Dollars) but said they however failed to complete the road construction, adding that they also renegotiated with the construction company during the past three months.

The Finance Minister said the completion of the road would help ease mobility, encourage business transactions and promote tourism in that area.

He however disclosed that there would be a toll gate in a bid recollect funds spent by the government, noting that the project would be completed by 2020.
