To Embark On Agriculture… First Lady Inspires Women

The First Lady, Fatima Bio on Saturday 10th November 2018 paid a visit to her farm in Masiaka, Port Loko District where she demonstrated commitment in promoting agriculture and called on all Sierra Leonean women to follow suit.

“President Bio is keen on agriculture as one of his priority areas to boost the economy during his first five years,” she said. Sierra Leone, she said, should have enough to feed her people and to export, whilst calling on the womenfolk to take the lead in agriculture so as to set the pace for other Sierra Leoneans.

“I am determined to empower my fellow women and I am therefore calling on them to embark on farming in order to help push the ‘New Direction’ agenda on agriculture,” she said, adding that government cannot do it alone but that with concerted efforts and individual contributions, Sierra Leoneans will become food self sufficient.

She assured that she will, in her own little way, support women farmers to contribute to national development.
