Master Mince Organisation situated at Jui has recently donated food items worth Le 2,500,000 (two million five hundred thousand Leones to the St. George’s Orphanage Home in the Jui community on the outskirts of Freetown.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the organisation, Maassie C. Dumbuya, the donation was done out of humanitarian feelings and as part of their corporate social responsibility considering the fact that their organisation and the orphanage are located in the same area. “We also intend to reach out to other orphanage homes across the country,” said the PRO.

In response, the Manager of St. George’s Orphanage Home, Madam Yemah Conteh thanked the donors for what she described as a timely gesture. She however called on the government to come to their aid as, according to her, the home currently faces serious challenges.

According to her, the home has children who have been raped, physically abused and suffered gender base violence, among other human rights abuses.

Currently, Madam Conteh said, they have forty children – twenty male and twenty female, adding that they are calling on the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs for support.
