The Sports Oversight Committee in Parliament has resolved to invite and query the Minister of Sports, Mr. Ibrahim Nyelenkeh Kamara on his return from Ethiopia where the national team Leone Stars will lock horns with their counterparts in the African Nations Cup (AFCON) qualifiers.

According to Hon. Serajie Rawlings Kamara of Constituency 127 in the Freetown municipality, who is Chairman of the Oversight Committee on Sports, the Sports Minister would be invited in Parliament to explain why he led a forty-two-man delegation to Ethiopia.

The MP averred that the state of the country’s economy is nothing to write home about and as a result, there was no tangible reason for the Sports Minister to have travelled with such a large number of delegates.

Hon. Serajie Rawlings Kamara claimed that there was no supporter in the delegation, citing two diehard supporters of Leone Stars who were marginalized for the trip to Ethiopia.

The MP reiterated that the Sports Minister would be invited to Parliament as soon as he returns from Ethiopia to explain his action.

In an interview with the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Ibrahim Kamara, he said some of the players are foreign based and would be returning to their various football clubs after their match with the Ethiopian national team.

According to him, there are twenty-one players and twenty-two officials including the coach. He however declined to divulge information on the total budget for the travelling cost of the delegation.
