SLPP PRO In Court Today

By Thomas S. Kembay

The Publicity Secretary of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Lahai Lawrence Leema will today, Friday, 17th November, 2017 made his second appearance at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 before Magistrate Albert Moody on a seven-count charge of assault, threatening remarks, trespass, insulting conduct and disorderly behavior.

It could be recalled that after spending a night at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the SLPP Spokesman made his first appearance before Magistrate Moody on Tuesday, 14th November, 2017 on the said seven charges in two separate case files.

The first case file had two count charges of assault contrary to offences against the person Act of 1861 and insulting conduct alleged to have been perpetrated by the SLPP outreach man against Mr. Franklyn Rogers.

In the second file were five count charges including trespass, assault, disorderly behavior, insulting conduct and threatening remarks reported by one Joseph Kowa and Gerald Sesay both of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

The PRO was granted bail in the sum of two hundred and fifty million Leones (Le250m) and two sureties for the two count charges in the first case file and was, for fear of flight risk, refused bail for the second file that carried five count charges as submitted by the state prosecutor and granted by the presiding Magistrate.

The mater comes up today.
