As they prepare for their election in Makeni on
the 26th and 27th of this month, the Sierra Leone
Football Association (SLFA) and others will today face Parliament.
An invitation sent out to members of parliaments
informed that the Committee on Sports will be meeting with the Ministry of
Sports, National Sports Authority, SLFA and other football stakeholders today, Friday,
5th February, 2020 at 10:00 am in Committee Room One.
The reason for the meeting was not stated but
sources from within the corridors of the Legislative House has intimated this
medium that it has to do with a leaked audio from the campaign manager of the
incumbent president, Isha Johansen who is opting for a second term in office.
It is alleged that the leaked audio from Mr.
Victor Lewis as head of the Isha Johansen campaign team exposed a scheme to
disqualify potential presidential candidates in the SLFA race on election day.
In Mr Lewis two minutes fourteen seconds (2:14)
audio, former Vice President 1 of the Sierra Leone Football Association and
football legend who represented Sierra Leone’s National team – Brima Mazola
Kamara stole fifty thousand United States Dollars (US$50,000) from SLFA and gave
false witness against Isha Johansen in her alleged corruption case with the
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Victor Lewis, in the audio emphasized that
Junior Navo and Alie Badara Tarawallie will be going into the election
unchallenged. Victor further asserted that former Member of Parliament, Hon.
Francis Konowa has several issues that he needs to respond to. He said the
former Honorable withdrew Le64,000,000 (sixty four million Leones) from a
football account unknown to no one for his personal benefit. Hon. Konowa, he
alleged, also falsified the signature of Isha Johansen during a FIFA Congress
in Mexico to collect money.
He further revealed that Koffie who is a member
of the Sierra Leone Football Association’s executive was reprimanded for
recording deliberations in executive meetings for which he apologized. Koffie
has also flouted FIFA’s instruction and proceeded with a Congress in Bo. This,
he said, was in contravention of FIFA’s Article 1.
Victor Lewis who is also the owner of East End
Tigers FC revealed a diabolical plan to disqualify one of the most popular
presidential candidates – Mr. Rodney Edmond Michael. He disclosed in the audio
that the reason why the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has banned
Guinean FA President from contesting in their election is to set a precedent
for Rodney Michael. The same ban will be effected on him.
“Rodney said he has left Mercury but he has
not presented any evidence to the Sierra Leone Football Association,”
stated Victor Lewis.
Some of the issues revealed in the audio have
been rumoured long before now and Victor’s audio seems to lend credence to the
rumours.
The leaked audio from Victor Lewis seems to
confirm rumours that the electoral body’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committees have
plans to compromise the election in favour of Isha Johansen.
Over the last two weeks, credible sources have
been informing the presidential candidates that Isha Johansen is using FIFA
workers to be calling committee members to threaten them to support her
election bid.
Victor Lewis in the leaked audio implored
stakeholders to allow Isha Johansen to go unopposed.
The Ministry of Sports, National Sports
Authority and the Government of Sierra Leone have been called to intervene in order
to save the country from history repeating itself thus, Parliament has immediately
summoned them.
