The Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq. has during the official handing over ceremony of a two billion Leones cheque (Le2,000,000,000) by the Minister of Sports, Mr. Ibrahim Nyelenkeh Kamara, said that each Premier League team that is fully registered with the Board will receive fifty million Leones (Le50,000,000 ) each, ahead of the commencement of this year’s Premier League.

He advised the different premier league Team Managers to use the monies judiciously for their respective clubs.

According to Lawyer Abdulai, it was first agreed that the Board was going to receive the sum of Le3.5 billion Leones but that it ended up receiving a cheque of Le 2 billion Leones, which, he said, was the reason why they could not give the clubs one hundred twenty million Leones (Le 120,000,000) as earlier promised. He however assured them that they will receive the second tranches of the money.

The Minister of Sports also urged the Premier League Board to use the said money judiciously in order to promote the game. “Let the money reflect on the players and the clubs,” the Minister urged.

The Acting President of Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Brima Mazola Kamara also assured the Minister that they would ensure that restore the beauty of the game.
