Police Kill 1 – 5 Arrested

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Chief Supt. Gabriel Tommy has confirmed the killing of one and the arrest of five alleged armed robbers in Waterloo who allegedly attacked Missionaries of the Latter Day Saint.

According to Supt. Gabriel Tommy, one of the armed robbers tried to resist the police by firing live bullets and pelting stones at them but was later on shot and killed on the spot by the police operational team. Supt. Tommy further disclosed that the arrested armed robbers had in their possession machetes and other giant cutters.

According the Local Unit Commander of the Waterloo Police Division, Supt. Sylvester M. Kallon, he was called up at around 2:20 am on the issue. The arrested armed robbers, he said, were armed to the teeth.

He also confirmed that the operation team materialized at the crime scene shortly after it was notified. He also confirmed the shooting and killing of one and the arrest of three.

Supt. Kallon further disclosed that eight of the armed robbers were from Kossoh Town and Fourah Bay Road, whilst the other four used to reside in Waterloo as alleged by the suspects currently in police custody.
