The Honourable Deputy Speaker of Parliament Sengepoh Thomas has given a stern warning to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) not to tamper with the recently published forensic audit report that was published recently by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa.

Speaking on Tuesday in Parliament during the first hearing of the audit report, the Deputy Speaker said that by law, such reports are first submitted to the House of Parliament, adding that it is not the business of the Minister of Finance to look into the report before the House. He therefore warned MDAs to stay off the report, adding that it is contempt to tamper with the work of parliament.

“Sierra Leone is a nation of laws,” he said, adding that he has spoken with the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to hold on as Parliament looks at the Auditor’s General report.

On his part, the Deputy Chairman of Public Account Committee, Hon. Lahai Marrah said that the report must not have been made public, quoting Section 119 Sub-Section (4) of national Constitution which state that the audit report must be submitted to parliament. According to him, there breach in the procedure by making the said report public.

He said the report must be submitted to PAC Committee for deliberations.
