The Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Mohamed Rahman Swarray has implored police investigators and other cyber security agents to leave no stone unturned in the ongoing investigation of the massive SIM Card fraud scam revealed this week, adding that anyone found guilty will face the full penalty of the law.

He urged the investigators to follow the evidence to where it leads them and ensure that those found wanting are charged to court as, according to him,  “this is criminal enterprise that has been going on for a long time.”

He disclosed that the National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM) was able to unearth the said sim card fraud because of the kind of regulations currently in place. Minister Rado Swarray said such illicit enterprise has, over the years, affected revenue collection.

It could be recalled that over five million sim cards were found by police detectives attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and cyber security agents in a certain house located along Kinghaman Road, West of Freetown, where some Ghanaian and Chinese nationals reside.
