The Director of Operations of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Elizabeth Turay has said the increasing number of boundary disputes across the country is posing serious national security threat.

AIG Elizabeth Turay, who made the disclosure when updating the media on the security situation across the country, said the SLP have been receiving series of cases from various chiefdoms in Bombali and Karena districts between the Limba and Mandingo ethnic groups.

According to the Director of Operations, some of the boundary disputes have ignited violent incidents that have led to serious assaults and wounding of parties involved in the disputes, citing a case in Karena district that led to violent clashes. AIG Elizabeth Turay called on the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to intervene in the boundary disputes for amicable settlements.
