National Revenue Authority (NRA), Dr. Samuel Jibao last week disclosed in Freetown that the Electronic Cash Registration (ECR) system and the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) are currently undergoing pilot testing and will be completed by the end of January, 2019.

The Commissioner General intimated that the concern for ECR for the payment for Goods and Services Tax (GST) is collaboratively enhanced by the Ministry of Finance and the NRA.

He continued that the bidding process was solely funded by the Government of Sierra Leone (GOSL), indicating that out the seven vendors that were shortlisted, four were selected and that a tour of the selected four was properly done to ensure effectiveness.

Commissioner Jibao continued that the only thing left with the process is to prepare the financial plan and the award of contract, which he said is targeted for April, 2019 as a way to ensure that GST is collected and recorded.

Dr. Samuel Jibao made mention of the ASYCUDA+ being changed to the ASYCUDA World which, he said, is targeted towards the end of January. He said the ASYCUDA World process is at an advanced stage as awareness meetings were held for Bank representatives, shipping companies and ACFA representative in July 2018.
