New Bank Governor Takes Over

 

In his determination to have expert technocrats and politicians in key strategic positions in order to deliver on his promises in the ‘New Direction’ manifesto, His Excellency President Rtd Brig. Julius Maada Bio on Wednesday, 15th August, 2018 appointed Mr. Kelfala Morana Kallon as the new Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone (BSL).

Section 15(1) and 15(2) of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act 2011 gives the right to the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone to appoint the Bank Governor under the public seal for a term of five years.

The release from the Office of the President, State House: “Whereas it is provided by Section 15(1) and 15(2) of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act 2011 that governor shall be appointed by the President under the Public seal for a term of five years.”

The statement continues: “in exercise of the power vested in me by Section 15(1) and 15(2) of the Bank of Sierra Leone Act 2011 and all other powers thereunto me enabling, I do hereby appoint you Kelfala Morana Kallon to be Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone with effect from 15th August, 2018 subject to the provision of the said Act.”
