More Troubles for Amb. Alie Kanu, Others

The Accountant General of the Ministry of Finance, Richard Williams has on Wednesday, 19th June 2019, told Justice Miatta M Samba of the High Court of Sierra Leone that he was not the one who authorized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue diplomatic service passport to certain unspecified and undeserved persons.

He told the court that his signature was forged by certain individuals, adding that he is not the signatory of the documents as it was alleged.

It could be recalled that Mr Williams name was mentioned by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in passport saga that involved the Former Ambassador the United States of America and Chairman of Independent Media Commission (IMC), Alie Ibrahim Kanu, the Senior Human Resource Officer Immigration Department, Alfred Kallon, and the Head of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sulaiman Issa Turay.

It could be recalled that Amb. Alie Kanu and the two others were indicated by the Anti-Corruption Commission with forty-three counts charges ranging from conspiracy to commit corruption, abuse of office, peddling influence and other related corruption charges.

Justice Miatta Samba had earlier given a Le 5000 million bail to the trio with two reliable sureties and were instructed to surrender all travelling documents and not travel out of the country.

The ACC state prosecutor is Lawyer Sonifou Harleston.
