May 29, 2021… APC Elects Presidential Candidate
Determined to
take a very strong coordinated national challenge to the incumbent Sierra Leone
People’s Party (SLPP) in the party’s bid to retake State House, the main
opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party still leaking its wounds after its
shocking 2018 presidential election lose to now President Julius Maada Bio and has
well ahead of time decided on choosing its 2023 presidential candidate.
Should everything
go according to plan, the process leading up to the party’s election of its new
National Executive Officers that would replace the Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma
leadership and election of the party’s 2023 Presidential candidate on May 29th,
2021 will begin on the 24th and 25th February 2021 with
the holding of an emergency Delegates Conference. This conference will adopt
the party’s new constitution, pursuant to Article 6.9.2.11 and Article 16 of
the December 1995 APC Constitution.
Thereafter, the party
would embark on lower level executive elections starting with Constituency
Conventions to be conducted 8th to 14th April 2021. This
will be followed by District conventions 19th to 23 April 2021 and Regional
conventions, excluding Diaspora Region, 28th to 30th April 2021.
Diaspora chapter
conventions will take place 7th to 9th May 2021, followed
by Diaspora branch conventions 11th to 12th May 2021 and
Diaspora regional conventions 15th May 2021.
The Women’s Congress
convention will take place on 16th May 2021, followed by the Veterans
convention on 18th May 2021.
The APC elections
calendar will end with holding of the National Delegates Conference for the
election of new National Officers and the party’s Presidential Candidate, 28th
and 29th May 2021.
