Le100M Land Scam -2 Remanded

Two accused, Josephine Gbamtamoi aka  Aminata Sillah and Komba Mbayoh, are facing preliminary investigation before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie at the  Pademba Road Court No. 1  for allegedly defrauding one hundred million Leones from one Pastor Idrissa Bangura.

Both accused are charged with three count charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to law; obtaining money by false pretenses, contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and false declaration, contrary to Section 5(c) of the Perjury Act 1911.

According to the charge sheet, it was alleged in count one that Josephine Gbamtamoi and Komba Mbayoh on 21st May 2020, at Allen Town, Freetown, conspired with other persons unknown to defraud one Pastor Idrissa Bangura the sum of one hundred million Leones by falsely pretending that they have one and half town piece of land for sale situated at Gooding Drive, Off Regent Road, Lumley, Freetown, knowing same to be false.

In count two, it was alleged that first the accused on 21st of May, 2020, at Allen Town obtained the sum of one hundred million Leones from Pastor Idrissa Bangura by falsely pretending that she has one and half town piece of land situated at the above address.

The Prosecution further alleged in count three that first accused on 21st May, 2020  made false statement to Pastor Idrissa Bangura that she has a conveyance owned by her with folio number 1020/81, volume 331, Page 142 and dated 12th August, 1981 in the name of Aminata Sillah.

After the charges were put to them, both accused were granted bail in the sum of one hundred million Leones each with two sureties in like sum. Magistrate Bonnie further ruled that one of the sureties must be a property owner valued five hundred million Leones situated in the Western Area. She added that bail must be approved by the Master and Registrar of the High Court.

Both accuse failed to meet the conditions and were remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to the 9th of September 2020, for the Prosecution to dock in his first witness.
