Lands Minister Spits Fire

The Minister of Lands Country Planning and the Environment, Dr. Dennis Sandi at the usual government press briefing last Thursday, 7th June, 2018 at the Conference hall of the Ministry of Information and Communications, disclosed that the President Bio led ‘New Direction’ administration would recover all state lands and houses that were illegally acquired or grabbed by certain individuals in the previous administration.

According to the Minister, a team has been set up to look into the issues surrounding state lands properties that were illegally acquired or grabbed by squatters; emphasising that all state lands must belong to government and not individuals.

He furthered that all houses including guest, residential and entertainment complexes constructed around the Presidential Lodge at Hill Station are going to be demolished.

“We cannot continue to have the Presidential Lodge surrounded by other structure at a close range” fumed the Minister.

Minister Sandi added that government has marked eighty seven (87) houses for demolition at the Mortormeh community in Regent where in August 14, 2017 mudslide destroyed properties and left many dead and homeless.

Resident in swamps and disaster prone areas, he said must also get ready to quit because government, he noted, do not have money for disaster response and is  therefore going to embark on preventive measures by removing all those residing in disaster prone areas within the city.

He therefore urged all those who have acquired government land to get their document ready.
