Kambia Bye-Election Date Out

The Director of External Outreach Coordinator at the National Electoral Commission (NEC), Mohamed Massaquoi has disclosed that the Local Council re-run bye-election in Ward 196, Constituency 58, Tonko Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District has been slated for Saturday, the 9th of March, 2019.

According to Mr. Massaquoi, the Commission discovered that the initial date slated for the re-run of the bye-election fell on a cleaning day which was the 2nd March, 2019. He said the date was therefore shifted the second Saturday, 9th March, 2019, noting that preparations for the conduct of the election have been completed.

Meanwhile, the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) has on Tuesday, 19th February, 2019 engaged all political parties, the Sierra Leone  Police (SLP), NEC, Office of National Security (ONS) and other stakeholders ahead of the election.

The vacancy occurred as a result of the death of one Councilor Ibrahim Kella Conteh of Ward 196, Tonko Limba Chiefdom on Sunday 1st July 2018.
