Justice Biobele Attacked

The residence of Justice Biobele Georgewill, one of three judges presiding over the Commissions of Inquiry (COIs) investigating officials of the erstwhile Koroma administration, was attacked at his residence at Goderich on Sunday night.

The Minister of Information and Communications, Mohamed Rahman Swaray yesterday confirmed the attack, adding that “a fact-finding mission is on its way to the residence” at Goderich on the outskirts of Freetown.

The assailants reportedly took away his laptop which sources say contains his work at the commission and eight years of work in Nigeria, adding that those who visited the Nigerian Judge on Monday morning say he was visibly shaken by it.

The motive of the attackers is reportedly not immediately clear, but Justice Biobele had openly spoken about receiving anonymous threatening telephone calls. Questions are being asked as to why the state did not provide him with a laptop when he arrived, and about the state of security at his residence.
