In UK & Ireland…

SLPP To Endorse Executive

By Ayodele Deen-Cole
The National Executive of the Opposition, Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is in the process of endorsing the new executive of the party’s United Kingdom and Ireland Branch, after addressing the issue between the two factions.
According to a letter from the Acting Secretary General of the party, Alie Badara Mansaray, the final endorsement will be done in a few weeks time when the committee set up to look into the matter meet. The Acting SLPP scribe said that the party has been following the issue between the two factions and has decided that the UK and Ireland election held in April this year, was done in line with the dictates of the party’s Constitution. He encouraged the dissatisfied faction to forget bury the hatchet and join the winning side.
Meanwhile, a senior member of the SLPP UK and Ireland branch, Sheku Kallon is urging the party’s NEC to fasttrack the endorsement process so that the new executive will start operating. He said most of the confusion has to do with constitutional matters and court injunctions, adding that it will be good for the NEC to address the situation before the next party convention.
Meanwhile, other members are also accusing the past executive of corruption and are calling on them to refund the monies squandered.
