In Constituency 086… SLPP MP On Massive Development

 By Alhaji Mansaray

Hon. Nenneh Lebbie of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) representing Constituency 086 in the Bo District has reportedly ensured that the Constituency Development Fund which she received is judiciously expended for the development of her constituency.

In a bid to develop the people of her Constituency, Hon. Lebbie is reported to have given grants to women’s groups in her constituency for small scale businesses, supported women in agricultural activities by purchasing fertilizers, procured tools for cleaning and sanitation in some communities, rehabilitation of roads, assisting the blind school with funds for feeding programme and funding sports activities within the constituency for youths.

According to Hon. Lebbie, the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu had earlier advised MPs to rent or construct office spaces in their various constituencies, but that she found it difficult to utilize the available fund for the said purpose as, according to her, she cannot maintain it. “That was why I decided to fund some development programmes within my constituency which I believe my constituents are appreciative of,” she said.

In her contribution to the recently concluded debate on the 2019 Budget, Hon. Lebbie described the new budget as the “nation’s budget and a people-centered one.” The Hon. further maintained that the free quality education flagship programme of the ‘New Direction’ led government is a laudable one whilst urging all to know that development is a process.
