The National Revenue Authority (NRA) under the astute leadership of Dr. Samuel Jibao has made a stunning record of one hundred and eighty one billion, five hundred and four million Leones (Le 181.54 billion) in five days.

Speaking to The Exclusive the Commissioner General of NRA, Dr. Jibao disclosed that the Authority on Friday, 15th March, 2019 alone, recorded fifty two billion Leones (Le 52 billions) which is the highest daily collection since it was established.

“Within 5 days between Monday, 11th to Friday 15th March, 2019, we made an unprecedented collection to the sum of the Le 181.54 billion including road maintenance fund which stand at Le 4.84 billion,” said C.G Dr. Jibao.

NRA, he said, is undergoing series of reform measures and that in the couple of weeks his management has been on serious data cleaning of Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax returns which, he said, yielded such massive domestic revenue within a week.

He assured that he and his team would continue to strengthen the Authority’s reforms for the betterment of the country.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in the past two weeks, has executed the most sporadic raid actions by acting on an intelligence of bribery, deliberate undervaluation, unjustified waivers and abuse of office by some NRA custom officers at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay.
