The National Chief Imam of the Basharia Islamic Mission, Alhaji Sheik Abubakarr Kamara, who is also the Amir of the United Council of Imams in Sierra Leone (UCISL), has called upon Sierra Leoneans including both Muslims and Christians to refrain from violence as we approach the 7th March, 2018 national elections.

In his sermon last Friday at the Basharia Central Mosque at Bombay Street, Freetown, Alhaji Sheik Abubakarr Kamara said Islam is totally against violence and does not accept wrongdoings. He said Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) advised that as a human being, if you know that you do not know how to speak, it is better for you not to speak rather than say things that can create problems.

The National Chief Imam stressed that Islam encourages tolerance and therefore expressed gratitude to the Almighty Allah who, he said, has the power to direct people on the right path, noting that those without Allah’s direction always behave negatively. He pointed out that Prophet Mohammad (PBUM) is a universal messenger who is above every mankind in terms of good behavior and character, stressing that because of his good behavior, the Prophet succeeded in having people to accept his message.

The Chief Imam maintained that the Holy Prophet is the best example for every mankind worthy of emulation. He reiterated that whosoever is humble and has good character, people shall talk good of that person even if he/she is dead.
