I Will Resign From SLPP

Newly elected National Organising Secretary the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jimmy B. Songai has vowed to resign should the oldest party in the country and sub-region fail to unseat the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) in the 7th March, 2018 national elections.

Speaking to the media following his landslide victory in their National Delegates’ Conference held in Kenema at the weekend, Jimmy B. Songai conceded having serious task ahead which he said was not only limited to reviving the hopes of party members but to also ensure the party takes over governance. According to him, a change of regime is the wish of majority Sierra Leoneans.

“My assignment is to get rid of the APC if not I will resign my position…,” Jimmy Songai vowed. He said he had overwhelming majority in the election for the National Organizing Secretary as a result of his steadfastness and the ability to deliver, adding that he will redeem the party in the next national elections.

The National Organizing Secretary however conceded that he cannot play the magic without the rank and file of the party. He therefore appealed to them to work hand in glove to ensure a landslide victory in the next year’s national elections. Jimmy Songai also assured that the party would put all necessary modalities in place to bring about the expected change.

Mr. Songai hoped and prayed that the long yearning peace in the party could be sustained and called on the entire membership of SLPP to embrace one another.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), Amb. Dr. Osman Foday Yansaneh, who was one of the keynote speakers at the SLPP National Delegates’ Conference, emphasized the need for peace to reign in the party and wished them a successful event. He however brags that the APC is invincible.
