Some two thousand fake BECE results year have been reportedly discovered by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEST).

The fake BECE results, the Minister said were discovered during the last WASSCE examination, when results of over 2,000 BECE pupils were discovered falsified.

The Minister furthered that the some 3,000 students admitted in various universities and colleges in 2015 failed to produce their scratch cards upon demand made by the Ministry to cross check their WASCE results before awarding them scholarship. This, he said, was because, ten chances to one, they were falsified results.

The issue of ghost teachers, Dr Bah said, remains a major challenge for his Ministry as according to him, some 6,000 ghost teachers were discovered in 2018. With such development, he said government is expected to save an estimated sum of Le32.4b. The Minister however assured parliamentarians that his Ministry will continue to war against ghost teachers until all of them are reburied.

Meanwhile, two officials of MEST, Mr. Uthman, Deputy Permanent Secretary and Franklin Kamara, Clerk, have been detained and later released for allegedly including ghost teachers into vouchers and by so doing, defrauding the government.
