The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gento Group of Companies, Ahmed Gento Kamara has, in a meeting with the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Works, Housing and Infrastructure called on lawmakers to offer tax exemption on the use of the toll road, so that his company will be able to complete its contract in Freetown.

According to Mr. Kamara, his company is paying over one hundred thousand Leones per trip on toll road, adding that it  is a huge loss to him considering the fact that the said sum was not factored into the  contract his company signed with government. He therefore urged that the government adds another 45% to the contract so that his company will be able to meet the original price.

He noted that the quarry they are using is currently situated at Tombo and that they are preparing to transport large quantity of granites for the ongoing Hill Station – Kingharman Road project.

After his presentation, members of the Committee expressed satisfaction with the present status of the works undertaken by Gento Group of Companies.

They promised that they would ensure that his concern reaches the relevant authorities and urged the company to, in the meantime, work harder.
