From Wastages & Leakages… NPPA Bags Le537B

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), Mr. Ibrahim Brima Swarray has at the launching of the 9th Edition of the Diaspora Focus Journal said that since he took over the institution, they have bagged  Le537 billion (Five Hundred and Thirty seven billion Leones) in just six months in office.

Speaking at Leisure Lodge Hotel, the CEO said the main objective of the institution is to advise government on how to spend money through transparency and accountability.

He furthered that they have introduced new price laws, adding that all Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) must have same price tag in matters of procurement.

Ibrahim Brima Swarray said when he took over NPPA, he discovered many wastages in the institution as, according to him, there were different prices in the procurement processes in all ministries. He added that they have done a market survey to determine the procurement prices of all MDAs in order to generate internal revenue.

A total of Le 537 billion, he disclosed, has been bagged from wastages and leakages in the institution in terms of procurement, adding that government will use the said money to provide other services.
