Fraudsters Invade Mercury International

Mercury International would have reportedly suffered a huge financial loss from the final lotto draw held on Tuesday evening 24th March, 2020 had it not been for the vigilance of its Management.

According to report, the Mercury Managing Director, Martin Michael reported that a handful of retailers that were not employees but agents of the company deliberately set out to defraud the company out of a huge amount of money by punching winning numbers of the Tuesday final lotto draw long after Mercury’s machine were supposed to have been closed.

Explaining the detail of the alleged scam, the Managing Director said because of government’s declaration that all businesses should close by 7:00p.m. in reaction to the looming coronavirus threat to the nation, Mercury decided to reduce the time of the last draw from 8:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. and closure of all its machines nationwide to 6:50p.m.

He furthered that the retailers that wanted to milk Mercury dry punched tickets with the winning numbers with huge amounts of money staked on them which they gave out to friends, family members and loved ones to cash after the draw had been made.

Mr. Michael however stated that Mercury Radio had repeatedly been announcing to its customers that the time for the last draw had been shifted from 8:00p.m. to 7:00p.m., thus any ticket issued after 6:50p.m. when all machines were supposed to be closed was invalid.

He said the fraudulent behavior of these retailers, many of whom reported to be on the run, almost created pandemonium with the false winners shouting that Mercury owes them.

The Management of Mercury emphasized that it was the obligation of the company to always honour payment to genuine winners, noting that quite recently the company paid Le4.7 billion to winners without scratching its head.

Mercury International therefore reassured its numerous customers that the company would always promptly honour payment for all winning tickets that are genuine as it has always done.
