Former IMC Boss, 2 Others In Court Today

The Public and Outreach Education Officer of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Patrick Sandy has disclosed that the ACC boss, Francis Ben Kaifala has on Wednesday, 6th March, 2019 indicted the former Independent Media Commission (IMC) Chairman, former Ambassador to the United Nations, Amb. Alie Ibrahim Kanu, the Human Resources Manager of the Office of the Administrator and Registrar General, Alfred Kallon, the Head of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sulaiman Issa Turay, for alleged issuance of service and diplomatic passports to non deserving people. The three are to appear in court on Monday, 11th March, 2019.

Patrick Sandy stated that they took six months investigating the matter, adding that the former IMC Boss was apprehended last September, outside the premises of the United States of America Embassy. The Commission, he said, has substantial evidence against the former IMC Boss, whom he said, was issuing diplomatic passports to undeserving persons.

He furthered that the Anti-Corruption has ended its investigations and is now set to prosecute the said persons.

According to him, Amb. Kanu was collecting US$6,000 (six thousand Dollars) from each person under the guise as workers of his institute for international law.
