Ex-SLIEPA Boss Grabs APC Chair

The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), Raymond Kai Gbekie has been unanimously elected Chairman of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Party of Kono district  in the  just concluded District elections at the weekend.

Speaking to APC members after his election, the former SLIEPA boss, who is now head of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Association (SMEDA), expressed happiness for the confidence bestowed on him by his people, adding that his election is a sign of victory for the ruling party in that district. He promised to bring total unity within the rank and file of the party in Kono, following the sacking of the former Vice President, Alhaji Samuel Sadique Sam Sumana and the former Mayor of the Koidu/New Sembehun Council, Saa Emerson Lamina.

He promised the national leadership of the party that he would ensure that Kono district becomes a stronghold of the APC under his leadership as according to him, “I am ready to bring everybody onboard the party’s flight.” One APC stalwart in Kono district, Tony Konomani praised the new APC Chairman, stating that as a young politician and good administrator, Mr. Gbekie is set to popularize the APC Ideology in that part of the country. He urged all party members and sons and daughters of Kono to join the new APC team.
