According to the Deputy Ambassador, President Bio appoints people with the requisite qualifications and experience in their various areas of responsibility.

“I have spent years in China where I also studied and as you can see, I am fluent in the Chinese language like my mother tongue,” said Ambassador Rogers, noting that like all others, his appointment to serve as Deputy Ambassador to China came after a background check on is personal profile.

The Deputy Ambassador told the students that they were lucky proceeding on overseas studies under a government that prioritises education.

He recalled that he has twice served as Secretary General and once President of Sierra Leone Student Union in China when he was studying there, adding that Sierra Leone has the largest number of students under the Chinese government scholarship in China from the sub-region. He encouraged the students to put up their best Character and conduct out there as they are representing the country.

Ambassador Rogers envisaged that the students may produce Ambassadors or Deputies to China from among them for which he urged them to take their studies serious.

He concluded that the door of the Sierra Leone Embassy in China will be always open to them under the ‘New Direction’ administration of President Bio.
