The Chinese Counsellor in Sierra Leone Mr. Xiaoki Shen has assured that China will continue to support Sierra Leone in her development strides.

Speaking to The Exclusive at his Hill Station Offices, Mr. Shen disclosed that after donating 6,300 tons of rice to the government recently, the next donation will be made before the end of the year and more next year.

He continued that by next year, the Chinese government will roll out programmes that will fit into the agenda of various Ministries to further capacitate their staff, through various training programmes.
The counselor furthered that China has continued to maintain the existing relationship between the two countries, recounting the visible structures including the National Stadium, the Youyi Building, Jui modern hospital, among others.

According to the Counsellor, the main reason why the Chinese government has introduced capacity training programmes is to provide opportunities for Sierra Leoneans to expand their knowledge as, according to him, China is always ready to share experiences with other nations.

His offices, he said, exist to provide foreign assistance and to also engage ministries on their key priorities that could attract assistance.

Next year, he said, China plans to embark on two main interventions – agriculture and health.
