China Gives Salone Parliament A Facelift

The Government of the People’s Republic of China, through its Embassy in Sierra Leone has given a facelift to the House of Parliament with brand new electronic system and furniture to meet international standards.

Acting Ambassador, Wang Xinmin in his reaction to commendation from Sierra Leoneans of various walks of life expressed satisfaction over the development and for the fact that Sierra Leoneans appreciate China’s support. China and Sierra Leone, Wang Xinmin said, are taking their bilateral ties to a more cooperative level for the benefit of both countries.

“We believe in brotherhood and Sierra Leone is one of our brothers in Africa,” said Ambassador Xinmin, noting that China is always ready to assist and work with Sierra Leone in order for the country to benefit in all sectors of development including human resource and the economy.

Head of Media and Political Secretary at the Embassy, Giuo Xin disclosed that the items used for the refurbishment of the House of Parliament cost six million, two hundred thousand Chinese RMB.

On his part, the Leader of the main opposition in Parliament, Hon. Chernor Maju Bah said the refurbishment of the House was overdue and therefore commended the Chinese government.

Head of Government Business, Hon. Sidie Tunis also expressed similar sentiment whilst commending the People’s Republic of China for her continuous support to Sierra Leone, pointing out that China’s aid to Sierra Leone has superseded all other aids in recent times.
