The government of the People’s Republic of China recently donated thirty (30) brand new and customized garbage trucks to the government of Sierra Leone.

Speaking to The Exclusive, Head of Media and Political Secretary at the Chinese Embassy, GuoXin confirmed that the 30 garbage trucks have left China and are on the high sea and expected to land on the shores of Sierra Leone either at the end of the year or early next year.

He also confirmed that the trucks are part of the commitment made by the Chinese government through their Ambassador here. It could be recalled that the Chinese Ambassador two weeks ago, at the commissioning of the Juba Bridge disclosed that as soon as they assumed office, the SLPP led government asked the government of China to support it with garbage trucks and the construction of the Lumley bridge.

“This request was conveyed and within days it was endorsed by my government which agreed to provide the garbage trucks and US$1.5 million grant for the construction of the bridge,” said Ambassador Wu Peng.

Ambassador Wu Peng averred that he believes there will be more projects that will be undertaken by his government sooner than later and hoped that the cordial relationship between the two countries would continue.
