One of Sierra Leone’s Basketball Team called Cannon Royal has bids farewell to the Honourable Minister of Sports, Ahmed Khanou today Thursday 5th September 2017 in his office at Bishop House, Syke Street, Freetown.

The Minister of Sport, Honourable Ahmed Khanou, admonished the Basketball Players to go out and project the good image of Sierra Leone and to attend the courses, pay attention to every bit of instruction so that when they return home they would be able to impart those knowledge acquired to their fellow Basketball Players in Sierra Leone. The Minister of Sport said that “I hope that after you have finished your courses you would return back to Sierra Leone”. He finally wished them well and a safe journey as they leave the shores of Sierra Leone.

In response, Coach Trevor Turner thanked the Minister of Sport for accommodating them within a short notice and promised the Minister that they will go and do their best in the Basketball Courses and to raise the flag of Sierra Leone very high in terms of Sports.

The Team of Seven including the Deputy Director of Sports, Mr. Michael Shamsu Mustapha will leave the shores of Sierra Leone on Friday 6th September 2017 onboard SN Brussels to the United Kingdom to attend various training courses pertaining to Basketball and the two weeks long course will run from Monday 9th – 22 September 2017.

Athletes who would benefit from this course are Demise Mason – President of Cannon Royal, he will attend Administrative Courses on the development of Basketball Clubs; Coach Trevor Turner, will attend Coaching Courses and the following Players: James Johnson-Captain, James Bangura-Player, Abdul Kamara-Cole-Player, Mohamed Alie Jalloh-Player alias ‘Maca’ they will attend Player Skills Courses to enable them to become Professionals in Basketball.

The two weeks Basketball Course is funded by the House of Lords, Nike, British Council-UK, and NBA. At the end of the courses and according to the Deputy Director of Sports, Mr. Michael Shamsu Mustapha there will be exhibition Basketball Matches in London and Liverpool.
