Bio Blasts

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has put it bluntly that the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) are not good for themselves and for the country.

The President reportedly made the statement early last week at the SLPP Headquarters on Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown during the celebration of his 55th birthday and one year in office with the SLPP Women’s Wing.

Addressing his part members and supporters at the Unity Hall, President Bio said even though democracy in the country is moving on, SLPP is the only way forward. “There are several political parties,” he said, “but the APC party is not good for themselves and for this country.”

He recalled that when APC took over governance in September, 2007, what they did to SLPP was unimaginable, but however said as a decent political party, the  SLPP would not retaliate because they believe in Sierra Leone and therefore, he said, what they should do as a political party is to teach APC how to treat women.

President Bio further recalled that APC promised to transform Sierra Leone like Singapore but instead of prosperity which they preached, they left the country in austerity. For eleven years, he said, APC was engaged in stealing and destroying, noting that it is more difficult to make than to destroy.

President Bio said he recalled the aforesaid incidents to justify the current “gron dry” syndrome in the country.

He therefore appealed to Sierra Leoneans to exercise patience, adding that the projects in the pipeline would provide more job opportunities for many Sierra Leoneans. The President joked that the APC would never step foot on the ground after soaking it.
