Bio Blasts APC

Speaking at State House on Monday during the presentation of a cheque of Le7.5 billion by the ACC to the state, President Julius Maada Bio surmised that the political tension in the country has to do with his government’s determination to continue waging war against corruption which targets officials of the former All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma led government.

He maintained that should his government relax in the fight against corruption, the political tension in the country would subside, thus insinuating that APC are the cause of the political tension in the country.

Political tension between the ruling Sierra Leone (SLPP) and APC reached fever pitch when the government published its Governance Transition Team (GTT) report in which it accused officials of the former government of grand theft of public assets and wealth.

This did not go down well with APC who lambasted the SLPP government for giving them a bad name by declaring them guilty of corruption without evidence and trial.

It could be recalled that APC in Parliament fought tooth and nail to block the passage of the three instruments setting up the Commissions of Inquiry to look into the allegations made in the GTT Report from becoming law, resulting in all APC MPs walking out of the well when the vote was taken.
