As She Installs 500 Bins… Mayor Wages War On ‘Dorty’

Her Worship the Mayor of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Madam Yvonne Aki Sawyer on Saturday 9th February 2019 officially launched the installation of 500 street bins at her offices on Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown.

In her statement, Mayor Aki-Sawyer stated that the bins are to be installed at strategic areas within the city and that it is part of the Transform Freetown project that was recently launched by the President and herself.

“People in various communities have been charged with the responsibility to empty the bins on daily basis,” she assured, whilst urging the public to take ownership of the project by desisting from littering the streets, adding that there are already bye-laws that would be invoked against defaulters.

She appealed to corporate institutions and individuals within the Freetown municipality to support the project to enable the council increase the number of bins in order to enhance sanitation in the city and residents to help improve on sanitation, pointing out that clean environment boosts tourist attraction.
