As Ministry Of Trade Poises To Withdraw Licenses… Traders In Trouble

By Thomas S. Kembay

Reports from the Ministry of Trade and Industry have disclosed that the Ministry is set to withdraw and cancel licenses of companies and individuals that have failed to go by their license agreement with government.

According to the reports, the Ministry has disclosed that a good number of companies and individuals who were given government licenses to trade in certain products or as sole importers of certain goods are inefficient and could not live up to their license’s  agreement.

“Government is looking into these issues and intends to withdraw or cancel the licenses of all inefficient and rouge companies and individuals,” the report said.

This report comes following concerns raised by over 50 petty traders who were duped by Kamtoko Africa Trade Link, the sole importer of the Sweet-Sweet Maggie.

Meanwhile, Crime Officer of the Eastern Police Division Superintendent Deborah has confirmed that a matter of obtaining huge sum of money by false pretence running into hundreds of millions of Leones between Kamtoko Africa Trade Links as suspect and over 50 traders as complainant has been transferred to the Economic Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CIO) Headquarters on Pademba Road, Freetown.
