As Madingo Association In USA Steps In… Big Boost for Orphans

The Madingo Association-Kankele based in Dallas, United States of America (USA) recently donated a whooping five thousand United States dollars to the Variety Orphanage Home at Genet Lane, Kingtom, west of Freetown.

Making the donation on behalf of the association, the Treasurer, Mr. Sidi Daboh said, the association was approached by the orphanage for assistance. “We decided to come to the aid of these children because we believe children are the future of the country,” he said, adding that the association would continue to support the orphanage, going forward.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Solomon M. Gembeh, who before his appointment was resident of Dallas, USA, expressed satisfaction to the caretakers of the orphanage for taking good care of the orphans. He assured the home that he would, in his own little way, see how he can be of help to the poor orphans.

Receiving the donation, the Chief Executive Officer of the Orphanage Home, Mr. Francis Lahai expressed thanks and appreciation to the Madingo association for such a mouth-watering gesture particularly at a time when, he said, the home was in dire need of assistance. The said sum, he said, would be utilized to provide water facility for the orphans, which, he said, has been a major challenge to the home. According to him, the home is run by committed staff, some of whom, he said, are on volunteer basis, adding that they are currently faced with challenges for which, he appealed to the donors to continue such gesture.

At the end of the ceremony, the donors were taken on a conducted tour of the facility.
