Reading the 2019 Budget at the Well of Parliament on Friday 2nd November, 2018, the Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa disclosed that government through three institutions will provide 10,000 skill jobs in 2019.

According to the Minister, as a result of the dramatic increase in revenue collection by the National Revenue Authority (NRA) between April and October this year, government is now in a safe position to recruit 5,000 teachers, 4000 health workers and 1,000 police personnel bringing the total number  to 10,000.

He continued that the budget rafted the priorities of the ‘New Direction’ led government which, he said, is dubbed “Fiscal Consolidation for Human Capital Development.”
Also speaking on the budget, the Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Sahr Lamin Jusu maintained that it is no longer going to be business as usual, adding that the Finance Ministry will be engaging Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on how funds disbursed to them are expended.

The budget, he said, is the people’s budget for which, he insisted, its implementation must be used in line with the daily lives of the masses.
