As Gov’t Screens US$1.4B Contract Arrears… Contractors In Trouble

 

Commenting on the Fiscal Year 2019 Budget Bilateral discussions, past Thursday, 13th September, 2018, the Financial Secretary (FS) in the Ministry of Finance, Sahr Lahai Jusu has disclosed that the Auditor General’s Office is auditing the US$1.4bn arrears to contractors which the government inherited from the former Koroma administration.

According to the FS, the government discovered that most of the contracts awarded were over bloated thus requiring thorough auditing, while emphasising that government will only pay arrears to contractors that the Auditor General’s office approves.
