As Bio Storms Hospital… PCMH Matron In Trouble

President Julius Maada Bio has called for disciplinary action against a senior Matron at the Princess Christiana Maternity Hospital (PCMH) for coming late to work.

The decision comes following and on-the-spot visit made by President Bio at the hospital in the early hours of Monday, 27th August, 2018.

During the said visit, the President was welcomed by the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Alimamy P. Koroma and was taken on a conducted tour of the facility. During the tour, the President discovered the conspicuous absence of the Matron for the domiciliary and ordered the Medical Superintendent to take a stern action against her forthwith.

Addressing staff of the hospital, President Bio commended them for their good works but however, expressed dismay over the deplorable state of the hospital. President Bio further informed them that his government is very much concerned about health sector especially maternal and child health which is why, he said, the ‘New Direction’ agenda places health issues at the top of its priorities. The President also urged nurses to pay special attention to their work and ensure that they report for duty early. He further urged them to do all they can to complement the efforts of government for the furtherance of the free health care initiative.

The President was also shown some of the patients as he witnessed nurses administering treatments to them.

In his response, Dr. Alimamy Koroma thanked President Bio for the visit and suggested that he continues to make such unannounced visits to the facility so that he would witness firsthand what obtains at the facility.
