APC’s Take On Free Quality Education

The main opposition All People’s congress (APC) has termed the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) led government’s free quality education as good initiative but frowns at its timeliness, steps taken, policies and methodology used in its implementation.

Speaking to The Exclusive, the National Secretary General of APC, Amb. Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh explained that as a party they believe that education is not something that any government can just jump into overnight without it being tested.

Education, he said, is not free, adding that making it free as according to him parents and guardians would, at the end of the day pay some money to educate their children.

SLPP government, the APC scribe said, inherited the 6344 system of education but that without any scientific research they decided to revert to the 6334.

He also recalled that during pre-colonial era there was class 1 and 2 standard 1,2,3,5 and 5 making seven years in primary school after which a pupil will take three years before writing what used be called Junior Cambridge.

The examination, he said, was called Junior Cambridge because it was conducted by Cambridge.
