Another Fresh Battle… Palo To Appeal

The defence team for 1st Defendant in the just concluded treason trial, Rtd Major Alfred Palo Conteh has said they intend to file an appeal against the verdict on counts ten and eleven, on which their client was found guilty.

Speaking to this medium in an exclusive interview, one of the defence lawyers, Ady Macaulay expressed appreciation to the jury for the acquittal and discharge of their client on the three counts charges of treason and other related charges.

However, he frowned at the two charges, count ten and eleven in which their client was pronounced guilty and sentenced to twenty four months imprisonment.

According to the legal luminary, during the summing up, they noticed some misdirection on the definition of the term public place which, he said, the prosecution failed to properly establish.

Lawyer Macaulay further stated that they are waiting for the copies of the verdict, which they intend to peruse and digest before taking another line of action.

“Justice in the hands of the common people always works well rather than that of the court”, he said with a bold smile.
Another member of the defense team Wara Serry-Kamal who stated in a local media that they believe, the judge, in his instruction to the jury made some errors.
