91 Sacked NATCOM Workers To Be Reinstated

Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication have seriously engaged the Ministry of Information and Communication and officials of the National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM) on the issue of the sacking of ninety one (91) staff members at the Commission at a meeting held at the Conference Room of the Administrative Building of Parliament on Tower Hill in Freetown.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Communication who also doubles as the Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Hon Mathew Nyuma described the issue as a very serious matter, adding that the summoning of the officials from the Ministry of Information and NATCOM is not a witch-hunt but that the committee just wants to ensure that the right thing in done, He noted that the sacking has nothing to do with political affiliation.

On his part, the Minister of Information and Communication, Mohamed R. Swaray pointed out that he has no knowledge on this sacking of 91 staff from NATCOM, he added that he learnt about the sacking on the social media, describing it as scandalous. The Deputy Leader of the main opposition in Parliament, Hon. Alhaji I.B Kargbo said the said 91 persons should be reinstated.
