The Finance Director of Sierra Tropical, Konton Iwabuchi has disclosed in a recent meeting with the Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh that they would employ another set of three thousand (3000) youths to work on their farm in Bo District in the Southern Region.

According to the Japanese-born Finance Director, the company is in full operation with the planting of pineapples for which they have already employed about five hundred (500) youths, adding that 3000 more youths would be employed when the company and the Government of Sierra Leone sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the expansion of their operation.

Konton Iwabuchi said the employment they are creating for the youths would help cushion the acute unemployment problem in the country.

In his contribution, the Chief Executive Officer, SLIEPA, Sheku Lexmond Koroma said as a government entity, they were in full support of Sierra Tropical’s operation in the country.

He assured that very soon they would undertake a special investigation into the delay in the signing of the MoU and promised to help expedite its signing.
